In response to the Optus data breach, the Attorney General introduced a bill to parliament to make changes to the Privacy Act. For more detail about the proposed changes in the Bill, read our explainer here.
The Bill was referred to the Senate Standing Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs to conduct an inquiry. Digital Rights Watch provided a submission, and will appear at a public hearing on 17 November 2022.
